Sports Massage
“Sports massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments. It is applicable not just to sports people but to anybody wishing to guard against, or recover from, a soft tissue injury” – The sports massage association
Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage to correct problems or imbalances in muscles. It is not just for sports people or those who are injured; it will benefit anyone who suffers from muscle aches and pains, whether those aches are from running a marathon, hours in the gym or just from sitting at a desk or steering wheel all day.
Sports massage can also be beneficial before and after certain events e.g. in the run up to an event; in a period of intense training; as general maintenance to reduce injury risk or anytime you experience general muscle aches and pains. Some of the well documented benefits of sports massage are:
- Decreased muscle tightness/tone
- Increased circulation
- Enhanced recovery
- Improved healing
- Increased or decreased nerve transition
- Improved flexibility and range of movements
- Improved sports performance
Please note that sports massage is a treatment and is therefore not the relaxing experience that you might get in a hotel spa! By its nature, and to achieve its goals, it can be uncomfortable due to the pressure applied in to and through the muscles. The highly qualified Therapists at Moore Performance Ltd will use a range of techniques and pressures that are specifically designed to achieve the aims of the treatment and your goals.
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 will require an adult to accompany them.
