You’ve been on your feet all day and can’t wait to free them from your ill-fitting shoes.
Sound familiar?
Your shoes should be comfortable and fit to your foot type. That’s why it’s important to get the right fit for you.
Did you know most people have one foot slightly bigger than the other? And most people’s feet move very differently left and right?
This difference means that shoes are never a true fit for both feet. With custom orthotics, we make sure your shoes precisely fit your foot movement. Custom made orthotics can help relieve pain or prevent injuries by changing the way your foot lands on the ground and absorbs shock.
So, what are custom made orthotics?
A custom-made orthotic is a prescribed medical device by your therapist, in addition to a rehabilitation and treatment plan.
We use a 3D scanner to measure your feet for an accurate impression of lower legs, so the orthotic is true to your size and aids your needs. They are designed to control your alignment and facilitate the function of your foot.
Orthotics are used to treat and prevent abnormal motion, rolling of the foot, or any other misalignment of your body structure. The custom-made insoles redistribute the pressure on the bottom of your feet, decrease the pain and discomfort and improve your foot health considerably.

Orthotics are an excellent choice for…
- Injury prevention
- Customising the fit of running, cycling, walking, golf or work shoes
- Pain in your heel or ball of the foot
- Ankle, shin, knee, hip or lower back pain
- Collapsed arches or Tibialis Posterior tendon problems
- Achilles or Peroneal tendon problems
- Stress fractures or neuromas
How long does it take to get a custom-made orthotic?
Your appointment lasts an hour. This gives us time to get to know you and your feet. In this appointment, we take 3D scans and give you the freedom to customise your design, colour and finish of your orthotics. After your appointment, we send off your scans. Your orthotics are ready to take home 3 – 4 weeks after your appointment.
Do I need to wear them all the time?
We advise you wear your orthotics as often as possible in order to reap the benefits of them. Custom orthotics are to be worn when your feet are working hard, standing for long periods and exercising. If you don’t wear your orthotics as prescribed, improvements will take longer, and you will mostly likely not see your desired results.

Does orthotics hurt to break in?
It’s common for patients to experience some discomfort when breaking in their orthotics. Like new shoes, your body needs time to adjust to the new cushion.
We recommend breaking them in gradually to avoid injuries. You can do this by wearing them 1 – 2 hours a day for the first few days and increase your wear to 2 hours for an additional few days. By the end of the week, you should be able to wear your orthotics for longer periods at a time.
However, when breaking in your insoles, monitor your feet for signs of pain or pressure. Discomfort is to be expected, however if any pain is experienced, seek advice from your professional provider.
How do I care for my orthotics?
As orthotics are not permanent fixtures to your shoes, you can take them out once a week for a gentle scrub with soapy warm water. Do not soak them or put them in the washing machine or dryer as this negatively affects the shape designed for your feet.
Air dry your insoles and pop them back in your shoes once fully dried. Whilst washing, inspect for any signs of wear and tear. A few minutes of maintenance saves you from buying a new pair, so take the time to care for them. Your feet (and wallet) will thank you!
Orthotic insoles are custom made to provide support specific to your foot type and biomechanics. Help alleviate pain and discomfort in the feet, ankles, knees and hips by getting your own custom orthotics complete.
