Whether you’ve sprained your ankle training in the gym or taking your dog for a walk, it’s important to seek physical therapy for optimal recovery. Each practitioner provides great treatment to get you back on your feet, but it can be a minefield of different professionals and places to go. So, who should I see?

Moore Performance has a multidisciplinary team (including injury assessment specialists, sports massage therapists, skilled KT taping personnel, acupuncturists and more) who have the knowledge and skill sets to treat musculoskeletal injuries and assist with recovery from sports and active lives. This means our focus is to restore, maintain and maximise movement in your body to increase your quality of life.

We are able to:

  • Assess and diagnose injuries
  • Deliver customised treatment plans based on the diagnosed injury
  • Teach patients how to reduce pain and manage chronic injuries
  • Apply a rehabilitation programme if we see fit
  • Educate patients how to reduce aches and pains
  • Assist recovery from sport or active lives.

Other professionals such as physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and GP’s offer different skill sets to help you with your aches and pains. However, they have separate approaches when it comes to rehabilitation, treatments and educating the patient.  So, who should I go and see for my injuries or aches/pains, and is it better to go private or through the NHS?

NHS V Private

*For full disclosure, we are a private medical company with no ties to the NHS.

The NHS is a fantastic resource which offers an extremely wide range of services, including the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, medical diagnosis and referrals to specialists. Unfortunately, the waiting list for these services can be long. Due to the increasing demand, appointments are short and do not include any hands-on treatments. This is where private practices come in!

We offer private practice without the ‘doctors scaries’ feeling. Our friendly environment means we can get you booked in quickly (hooray to no long waiting periods) and give you the time and attention you deserve in each appointment. Our bespoke, hands-on treatment plans give you access to immediate consultations and scans where needed. Without waiting three to six months for NHS consultations, we can treat your pain and sports injuries, getting you back on your feet! If you are unsure whether we are the right fit for you, contact us and we will direct you in the best direction. You’re probably thinking ‘that’s great, but who should I see for my back pain?’.

Which one should you seek?

On the surface, all of these manual therapies look similar, yet each of them are specialists in their area. When choosing your service, consider the quality of each service, urgency of the matter and the waiting time you wish to be seen.

GP’s provide a medical diagnosis to a patient’s worry. If the patient has a neurological or respiratory disorder, a GP can recommend specialist care to guide them through day-to-day exercises to improve their current physical condition.

If you’re looking for ways to deal with and acute injury or chronic aches and pains, Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, Osteopaths and Chiropractors provide a hands-on approach to relieve muscular, bone or joint issues. If you are a regular athlete or suffer from generally muscle tightness, then a Massage Therapist is ideal to reduce that muscular tension, aid recovery from training and event, and decrease stiffness from sitting at a desk all day with hunched shoulders.
